He earned both his B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from Southern Illinois University\, launching his career at IBM as a senior software engineer focused on internationalization and globalization. He soon moved into leadership as CTO and Director of Development for a translation‑management firm. \nWhile founding and running a regional ISP and telephone company\, Dr. Aken returned to SIU to teach application development and completed a Ph.D. in Business Administration (Management Information Systems) with a minor in Computer Science. After successfully exiting his telecom venture\, he taught at several universities and consulted on IT infrastructure and cybersecurity. \nAt Deloitte\, Dr. Aken served as a security consulting manager\, spearheading the firm’s Zero‑Trust Point of View and delivering maturity assessments and roadmaps for Fortune‑500 clients. \nRecruited by Twitter as Zero‑Trust Lead Technical Architect\, he produced a roadmap that raised the company’s Zero‑Trust maturity by 362 percent and cut cyber risk by 54 percent.
